We create for our customers breakthrough solutions in digital signal processing (DSP), wireless data transmission, neural networks, and other advanced technologies. 

Deep expertise allows us to work not only with ready-made modules and specifications but also to create new modules and specifications for leading technology companies. Our engineers develop custom modules and systems on a chip (SoC), radio protocols and WiFi specifications, algorithms for audio and video processing, neural networks — virtually anything that underlies innovative products for the global electronics market.

The results of our research are applied in the growing niches of the global electronics market: digital TV and multimedia, telecom, automotive electronics, home and industrial automation, consumer devices, and IoT gadgets.

      If a client asks us to explain the difference between R&D and standard design tasks, we show it on an example, explaining the difference between coders and engineers. The coder writes programs in C++ according to the statement of work without estimating how effectively this language can be used in a particular task and without correcting errors in the specification.

At the same time, an engineer looks at the same project much wider: he or she shapes an idea, architecture, and algorithms; understands how to implement technical and business goals of the customer — what chips and programming languages are better to use, how to build a workflow and estimate the time frame more effectively. R&D takes our customers' business to a new level.

     For standard electronics design tasks, we purchase ready-made modules and design a new device for the customer. But if a truly innovative solution is required, we create such modules ourselves from scratch. For example, with the latest 5G standard, we do the complex high-frequency tracing, take into account the requirements for the development of radio-frequency printed circuit boards, and achieve compliance with specifications.

Design of custom modules and systems on a chip

Design of custom modules and systems on a chip in Promwad

An example of our ongoing project: we help a chip developer and manufacturer to create a new custom chip with support for the 5G specifications and protocols. The new module will be implemented in mass-market devices.

The design is based on a PLC prototype (programmable logic chip). We implement the project specification for FPGA, get the topology of the future chip, and deliver the source files to the client so that he could use them in the application-specific integrated circuit — ASIC.

Within the framework of the project, we have implemented a complex high-frequency tracing and developed radio-frequency PCBs taking into account all specification requirements.

This is a standard process for designing custom modules based on our source files: a prototype works on FPGA that can be reconfigured, but its cost is too high for mass-produced products, that is why a relatively cheap ASIC is used to launch the batch production.

An example of a project: our customer wrote a specification, and contacted us to choose a demodulator or a stable coding algorithm. We performed necessary checks on the system on a chip (CoS), prepared several solutions, tested them on our FPGAs, measured the electrical parameters.

As a result, the customer received a complete list of characteristics of the best demodulator for their development.

Neural networks design

The directions of our current projects:

  • Neural networks for autopilots in cars – implementation of car parking
    and lane-keeping systems.
  • Neural networks for a video recognition system in the point of sale – implementation
    of face recognition for counting the number of customers.
  • Neural networks for a smart city – implementation of a lighting system
    that reacts differently to the movement of cars, people, and animals.
