AI application for set-top box: searching and buying products from video streaming

Challenge

To develop and install on STBs one of the first in Europe applications for searching and buying clothes directly from the video stream.

Solution

We have developed an application for Android and Java-based set-top boxes. The recognition of photo and video was implemented based on the neural network of the European startup Oyper.

How it works: a viewer watches the video and notices a stylish person — musician, actor or TV presenter — then he or she launches clothes search scanner and gets a list of available models from online stores.

We have also implemented a mobile version of the application, which will allow covering more video content on social networks.

Business value

The implementation of this feature will allow telecom operators and content providers not only to get a competitive advantage and to increase user engagement but also receive additional profit from the referral programs of the online stores.

We plan to develop this technology to launch the purchasing function for furniture and home appliances in the future.
