DRM Integration
Content Protection and Multi-DRM Integration to Secure Your Revenue
Content protection has many moving parts, and every gap in the chain costs you — in blocked content deals, lost revenue, and piracy. Juggling separate vendors for encryption, license servers, and device integration only adds risk.
Promwad is your single partner across the entire protection chain. We build multi-DRM strategies — Widevine, FairPlay, PlayReady, and Nagra — that protect one content set across every device.

Why Promwad
Securing premium content depends on a protection chain that satisfies the studios approving your catalog. Here is how we ensure our end-to-end approach:
Our Tech Stack
We design protection that integrates cleanly into real-world OTT, IPTV, and broadcast delivery.
DRM systems
Widevine, FairPlay, PlayReady, Nagra — integration, validation, and multi-DRM orchestration across platforms
Packaging & encryption
HLS, MPEG-DASH, CMAF; Common Encryption (CENC / CBCS) for write-once, protect-everywhere delivery
Content delivery context
OTT, IPTV, and hybrid broadcast (DVB, ATSC, DVB Native IP)
Device & runtime layer
Android TV / AOSP, SoC platforms (Amlogic, Realtek, Broadcom), and secure playback path validation on target hardware
Operational layer
License and key handling, telemetry, and diagnostics for protected playback at production scale
Application Areas
Premium VOD, SVOD & AVOD services
Studio-approved protection that unlocks and safeguards your premium catalog.
Live sports & event distribution
High-value, high-exposure streams secured against piracy without sacrificing low latency.
Multi-platform OTT apps
One protected content set delivered consistently across web, mobile, CTV, and STB.
Operator & white-label CTV / STB
Content protection engineered into operator-branded devices and applications.
Premium & 4K/UHD tiers
Hardware-backed security levels that meet the bar for the highest-value content.
Key Transformation: Multi-DRM Consolidation & Premium-Content Readiness
Still running fragmented, per-platform, single-DRM protection? That model limits your reach, inflates maintenance, and can lock you out of the premium tiers that drive revenue. We help you consolidate without disruptive rebuilds.
From a patchwork of platform-specific, single-DRM setups → to a unified multi-DRM strategy running on one packaging pipeline.
What you gain:
- Broader platform reach from a single protected content set
- Lower maintenance and less duplicated engineering
- Faster path to studio approval and compliance sign-off
- Eligibility for premium and 4K/UHD content tiers
How we do it:
- Assess your current protection posture and identify gaps
- Design the target multi-DRM architecture around your delivery stack
- Integrate and validate across players, platforms, and devices
- Prepare for compliance against studio and robustness requirements

Our Case Studies
DRM-Protected IVI System for Alpine Electronics
Multi-DRM implementation and hybrid OS architecture for an in-vehicle infotainment system based on a Qualcomm platform
Problem
Alpine Electronics needed DRM-protected content delivery — including Netflix and mobile video streaming — integrated into a hybrid IVI system running on Qualcomm SA8155P.
Solution
We implemented a full multi-DRM stack — Microsoft PlayReady and Google Widevine — across a dual-OS architecture (Android + QNX), enabling secure playback of premium content without compromising performance or content security.
Result
Alpine demonstrated the system at CES in Las Vegas, attracting General Motors and Harley-Davidson as prospective customers. Our customer signed a contract with General Motors to develop a multimedia system for a robo-taxi.
DRM-Protected Smart TV OTT for a Football Club
An OTT app delivering live matches and on-demand content across Smart TV platforms.
Problem
A European football club wanted to stream live matches, training, and news to fans on their TVs. As a rights holder distributing high-value live sports, it needed protected playback to prevent unauthorized capture and redistribution.
Solution
Promwad delivered a Smart TV OTT app with DRM-protected playback (Widevine, PlayReady) over MPEG-DASH and HLS, ensuring premium live and VOD content stayed secure across Samsung and LG platforms — plus integrated voice control, SSO, and in-app merch and ticket sales.
Result
A secure, multi-platform Smart TV app streaming protected live and on-demand content to fans, turning broadcast rights into a direct, defensible fan channel.
IPTV Application for Smart TV on Tizen and WebOS
Developing and porting an IPTV solution for a European telecom provider across Samsung and LG Smart TV platforms.
Problem
A European telecom provider needed to deliver an IPTV application on Tizen and WebOS while supporting DRM-protected content, adaptive streaming, and a full feature set across TV models dating back to 2016.
Solution
We developed and ported web-based Smart TV apps for Samsung (Tizen) and LG (WebOS) using React, MPEG-DASH, HLS, and Smooth Streaming, with DRM support via Google Widevine and Microsoft PlayReady.
Result
The client received an IPTV application with TimeShifting, EPG, PVR, and pause/rewind — complemented by entertainment categories including YouTube, Radio, Weather, and CinemaRoom.
