OTT Content Delivery Platforms Engineered for Scale, Reliability, and Simpler Operations

OTT startups and operators often struggle with fragmented backend stacks that create integration overhead, operational complexity, and streaming instability as platforms grow.

Promwad builds unified backend delivery platforms that connect ingest, transcoding, DRM, packaging, and CDN into one scalable system — simplifying operations and enabling reliable growth.

✓ Vendor-neutral architecture to avoid lock-in
✓ Reusable modules and proven architecture
✓ Scalable system design and stable QoS

Audit Your Current Backend Architecture

Modern OTT services rarely fail because of a missing feature. They fail when the backend becomes too fragmented to scale. Multiple vendors, disconnected workflows, unstable QoS under peak traffic, and rising operational effort can slow launches and make every expansion more expensive than it should be.

Promwad designs modular OTT content delivery platforms that simplify backend complexity. Instead of stitching together isolated tools, we engineer an orchestrated delivery chain that gives your team more control, better resilience, and room for future growth.

From Fragmented Infrastructure to a Controlled Delivery Workflow

Many OTT teams are not building from zero. They are trying to modernize legacy systems, reduce operational friction, and improve resilience without disrupting service.

Promwad supports controlled transformation across key backend scenarios:

Monolithic backend to microservices-based architecture

Monolithic backend to microservices-based architecture

Low-latency HLS/DASH adoption

Manual or partially stitched workflows to automated orchestration

Low-latency HLS/DASH adoption

Single-CDN delivery to multi-CDN architecture

Traditional latency models to low-latency streaming

Vendor-bound environments to modular, vendor-neutral systems

We approach modernization as phased evolution, starting with architecture assessment, workflow audit, backend code review, and migration roadmap definition.

Cross-Platform Mobile App

An application for a broadcasting network reaching audiences across 90 countries.

Problem

Heaven TV7 needed to rebuild their mobile streaming app from scratch. The existing solution relied heavily on web views, lacked modern player functionality, and couldn't efficiently support five language versions across iOS and Android.

Solution

We built a cross-platform Flutter app from a single codebase with five localisations. The extended video player supports TV casting (Chromecast, AirPlay), subtitles, timeshift, and PiP — alongside a donation system, VOD archive, and live TV channel with EPG.

Result

The client launched Taivas TV7 on Google Play and the App Store, delivering an improved streaming experience globally. The updated player, multi-language support, and monetisation integrations gave Heaven TV7 a scalable mobile platform to grow their reach across 90 countries.

AI Shoppable Video Solution for Smart TV & STB

Enabling viewers to search and buy clothes directly from a video stream.

Problem

Telecom operators and content providers lacked tools to monetise video content beyond subscriptions. There was no seamless way for Smart TV and STB viewers to interact with what they saw on screen — leaving a clear gap for commerce-driven engagement.

Solution

We built a shoppable video solution for Smart TVs and STBs, integrating a neural network by European startup Oyper for real-time recognition. Viewers can launch a clothes search scanner while watching and instantly get matching items from online stores.

Result

The solution unlocked a new revenue stream for operators through retail referral programmes and boosted viewer engagement. The technology is designed to expand into furniture and home appliances next.

Sportworld App Pre-Installed on Samsung Smart TVs in Germany

Interactive sports streaming app launched across the DACH region.

Problem

NativeWaves needed to build a new version of the Sportworld app for Samsung Smart TVs and secure its pre-installation on devices sold in Germany, supporting interactive features while maintaining performance on TV models dating back to 2017.

Solution

We assembled a dedicated team of up to 9 specialists and delivered the app using React.js and TypeScript, with live HLS streaming, VOD, QR-code authorisation, paid subscriptions, and Google Analytics. The architecture ensured portability across WebOS and FireTV.

Result

Sportworld launched pre-installed on new Samsung TVs across the DACH region, later reinforced by a Bundesliga partnership. NativeWaves gained predictable delivery, lower costs compared to local hiring, and a scalable platform ready for new sports verticals.

How We Ensure Quality

For OTT backend platforms, quality is measured in production outcomes: startup speed, buffering performance, latency, uptime, failover behavior, and stability under load. That is why Promwad validates the delivery chain as one connected workflow.

Our quality approach includes:

Monolithic backend to microservices-based architecture

load and stress testing for concurrency peaks

failover testing and CDN switching validation

failover testing and CDN switching validation

pipeline QA across ingest, transcoding, packaging, DRM, and delivery

pipeline QA across ingest, transcoding, packaging, DRM, and delivery

monitoring, alerting, logging, and metrics from day one

CI/CD pipelines with automated tests and staged rollouts

rollback strategies for critical backend services

secure APIs, tokenized delivery, access control, and session management

As a result, you get a platform that is easier to operate today and easier to evolve tomorrow.

FAQ

What is a content delivery platform in OTT?

It is the backend layer that manages how video content moves from ingest through processing, protection, packaging, and CDN distribution to end users. It differs from a full OTT platform, which also includes client apps, user experience, monetization, and business logic.

Can Promwad build or modernize only the backend layer?

Yes. We can focus specifically on backend workflow engineering without rebuilding your applications or frontend products.

What components can be included?

Depending on your needs, the platform can cover ingest, transcoding, packaging, DRM, storage, orchestration, CDN delivery, monitoring, and security controls.

Which deployment model is best: cloud, on-prem, or hybrid?

That depends on your scale, content model, compliance requirements, and cost targets. Promwad supports all three and helps define the right architecture for your business case.

When does multi-CDN become necessary?

Usually when uptime, regional performance, traffic control, or commercial flexibility become critical. Multi-CDN can improve resilience and reduce dependency on a single provider.

Can the backend integrate with SSAI, analytics, billing, or recommendation systems later?

Yes. We design modular architectures that can evolve and connect with adjacent OTT capabilities over time.

How long does implementation or migration take?

Timelines depend on scope, legacy complexity, and deployment model. We typically begin with an engineering assessment to define a phased delivery plan.
