Promwad Joins the openDAQ Community

openDAQ Partnership

Promwad is now an official member of openDAQ, the open-source community behind a common SDK for test and measurement devices.

In test and measurement, almost every data acquisition (DAQ) vendor ships its own protocol and SDK. Once a system combines equipment from several vendors, engineers have to write and maintain a custom adapter for each device. Every new integration costs time and money.

openDAQ removes that layer. Dewesoft and HBK, two of the largest test and measurement companies, created it as an open-source SDK under the Apache 2.0 license, with a shared model for devices and signals. A device implements openDAQ once and then works with any openDAQ-based application. Device discovery, data streaming, and configuration follow the same model, whether the host software runs C++, C#, or Python on Linux, Windows, or macOS.

Our team has worked with openDAQ for several years and already knows its architecture and the pitfalls of real-world integration. With embedded software, FPGA, and hardware design in-house, we can take an openDAQ integration from firmware all the way to the host application.

Our Work with Dewesoft

Dewesoft, the Slovenian maker of data acquisition systems and one of openDAQ's founders, first came to us with a turnkey hardware project. Together with Microchip, we designed and prototyped an industrial network switch for Dewesoft's data acquisition systems.

Industrial Network Switch

It puts two 10GbE and sixteen 2.5GbE ports on a single board, runs on the ARM Cortex-A53 core inside a TSN-ready Microchip switching chip, and sits in an enclosure we shaped through detailed thermal modeling. After that project, the collaboration grew into a dedicated team. Our C++ developers and PCB engineers now work inside Dewesoft's development team and contribute to its quarterly releases, from board bring-up to new features.
