Perl

Practical Extraction and Report Language. Perl is a general-purpose, freely distributed, interpreted programming language for working and modifying texts, files, processes.

It was developed by Larry Wall in 1986 as a practical language. It is available for a wide range of platforms and is suitable for most system management tasks. Language instruments allow developing (with minimum force efforts) specialized solutions and universal instruments, which are characterized by high portability and readiness for application.
