STMicroelectronics collaborates with IOTA to accelerate IoT technology integration

Now it seems quite clear that the Internet of Things market will grow tremendously bringing much success to companies and startups engaged in it. Although, the latest research made in Cisco says that almost two-thirds of all IoT projects fail, including those completed and regarded as successful at the market entry. There were several factors explaining such a low success rate, but the main was a lack of cooperation between hardware and software vendors. It’s better to remember that and be open to collaboration.

Two days ago it was announced that our chip vendor STMicroelectronics started cooperation with the german-based organization IOTA Foundation. It is globally known for providing the first scalable, feeless and fully-decentralized distributed ledger technology enabled in IoT devices. The objective of the collaboration is to integrate IOTA’s directed acyclic graph (DAG) in other words innovative blockchain on ST’ hardware, namely STM32 32-bit MCU ecosystem via the X-CUBE-IOTA1.

Both will benefit from overcoming technology gaps and reducing time-to-market. ST community users gained access to solutions of IOTA what will ease devices prototyping, and improve the process of environment, systems, products, and services development. Many industries can improve their performance capabilities in areas like power management, connectivity, or sensing with the help of this new device. Will keep tracking this solution.
