Embedded Configurable operating system. eCos is an open-source, royalty-free, real time operation system designed for embedded systems and applications.

It was developed for devices with small RAM or with real-time requirements. Highly configurable eCos kernel allows customizing operating system so that it meets precise application requirements and at the same time has best run-time performance, and requires minimum disk capacity for allocating its hardware resources. All the time developers from all over the world make their contributions into the system extending system’s functions and functionalities and expanding the range of supported hardware platforms.

Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory. EEPROM is a type of programmable read-only memory device that has non-volatile memory and is used in computers and other devices to store small amounts of volatile information.
