Embedded Configurable operating system. eCos is an open-source, royalty-free, real time operation system designed for embedded systems and applications. It was developed for devices with small RAM or with real-time requirements. Highly configurable eCos kernel allows customizing operating system so that it meets precise application requirements and at the same time has best run-time performance, and requires minimum disk capacity for allocating its hardware resources.
Glossary
Electronic Design Automation. Different means designed for development and preparation to manufacturing of electronic schemes from circuit boards to microchips.
Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory. EEPROM is a type of programmable read-only memory device that has non-volatile memory and is used in computers and other devices to store small amounts of volatile information.
Electronics Manufacturing Services. Companies providing services in series manufacturing of electronic devices.
Embedded Software. Embedded software is special-purpose software which is installed inside of some device, which it operates or which operation it controls. Embedded software has some limitations and is specifically developed for executing redefined range of tasks.
Ethernet is a batch network technology for data transmission at different speeds in local area networks. It was developed in the end of 1970-s by Xerox. Ethernet defines cable connections and electric signals at physical layer, batch format and environment access control protocols – at data link layer of OSI model. In the 1990-s it has become one of the most widespread technology of local area networks.
