FPGA-based Video Decoding and Output to TFT Panel
ClientÂ
A Canadian provider of cost-effective information solutions for public transportation.Â
Â
ChallengeÂ
Here are the key features of the designed hardware:Â
- Video parallel RGB interfaceÂ
- LVDS display interfaceÂ
- CSI + DSI interfaceÂ
- FPGA-embedded Ethernet switch (up to Gigabit Ethernet)Â
- Platforms: Lattice ECP5, Variscite iMX8 moduleÂ
- A converter of parallel video interface to LVDS / CSIÂ
Â
SolutionÂ
1. Hardware Design
We developed the FPGA firmware that receives video from Ethernet or video camera, processes it, and sends it back to the network, LVDS or DSI. The firmware is unified for the ECP family and fits low-cost Lattice ECP chips.Â

Business ValueÂ
Our client received a solution for video decoding and output to the TFT panel. This solution provides a range of video processing features such as resizing, rotating, decoding/encoding and applying on-screen text (OSD). This advanced functionality allows our client to process video streams efficiently, improving the output quality and enhancing the user experience.Â
