Promwad Integrates the OCPP Stack for EV Charging Service Providers in Europe and America

We have recently launched two projects for the charging network service providers in Eastern Europe and North America that implement and integrate OCPP 2.0.1, which is a protocol engineered for easy communication between EV chargers and back-end servers. With these engineering projects, our customers will receive a license-free and vendor-agnostic software solution for their EV charging networks.

Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) enables interoperability between the hardware and software platforms that are used in EV chargers and charging station management systems (CSMS) via remote servers. This approach makes it possible to choose any hardware and software that can be integrated with OCPP, with a special focus on vital functionality and budget, while eliminating the need for proprietary protocols and vendor lock-in. 

Within the scope of these projects, we are working on the implementation and integration of OCPP 2.0.1, the latest version, which was released in 2020. It features expanded support for new features, such as smart charging, device management, enhanced security measures, and ISO 15118 (V2G). Although these innovations bring the EV charging solutions to a new level of functionality, they also complicate the engineering process, as the testing phase will require the verification of extra operations that are initiated by the charger and EV users via the mobile app. However, our experience in the design of scalable battery management systems (BMS) and an in-depth understanding of the latest automotive market technologies and standards allow us to cope with such challenges.
